The conference has been held by VERN’ University and the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences since 2016. Fifty-four selected papers have been published in the Proceedings.

A collection of papers from the International Multidisciplinary Scientific Conference Mediterranean Islands Conference 2020 (MIC-Vis 2020), which was organized for the third time in September last year by the Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences and VERN University, with co-organizers Scientific Council for Anthropological research of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Euro-Mediterranean Academic Network.

The September conference brought together more than 100 scientists and experts from more than 15 different countries, and since it was held in specific pandemic circumstances, the conference was held in a hybrid form, in-person for a small number of participants and virtually for most participants.

The promotion of the proceedings was held on the island of Vis, and it presented 54 papers from the conference selected by the Editorial Board: professor Ljiljana Kaliterna Lipovčan, Ph.D., member of the conference program committee, Ivo Pilar Institute of Social Sciences, Katica Jurčević, Ph.D., member of the conference program committee, Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies, Rino Medić, Ph.D. member of the conference program committee and assistant professor Ozana Ramljak, Ph.D., member of the conference program committee, VERN ’University.

Given the significant number of theme areas covered by the conference, the Proceedings is divided into two parts - Mediterranean Issues and Other Issues, covers 12 areas, and brings works by authors from Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia, Australia, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, and other countries.
