VERN 'is a partner in the project to mark the International Fraud Awareness Week organized by Deloitte Croatia for the second year in a row.
On the occasion of the recent International Fraud Awareness Week (November 16-20), Deloitte experts held an online webinar for VERN students on "Trends in fraud and corruption during the pandemic COVID19".
Nikolina Šapit, a senior associate at Deloitte Croatia, emphasized to the students that corruption, fraud and other financial crimes are common problems in many developing world economies. It is therefore very important to encourage the wider business community to have an open dialogue on this important topic because joint actions is more effective than individual actions.
"By lecturing on the trends in fraudulent and corrupt practices caused by the COVID19 pandemic, we have in a way marked the official opening of the 'Fraud Awareness Week'. VERN’ has proven to be one of our key partners in this project, and we thank all students and associates of VERN for their contribution to raising awareness of the importance of preventing these negative phenomena in all forms of society,” said Nikolina Šapit.
Vedrana Jelušić Kašić, a partner in the Deloitte's financial consulting department, especially thanked our students who are participating for the second year in a row in student research on corruption and how to combat fraud. This way students contribute to the creation of a better and higher quality environment in Croatia.
"Deloitte is once again the coordinator of the organization 'International Fraud Awareness Week', which is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia. This year, we paid special attention to the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing and cyber security, which is especially important due to the increased use of various digital platforms, changes in working conditions and digital transformation of companies, fueled by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, " said Vedrana Jelušić Kašić.
The online webinar was held as part of VERN’s #EducationmeetsBusiness project, moderated by project manager Nataša Jeličić.
Once again, the students showed a great interest in this topic and actively participated in the webinar with their questions and comments.
