Course objectives
Provide insight into the basic and advanced use of computers in the MS Windows environment as well as into the basic concepts and techniques for text processing using MS Word tools. Introduce basic rules and methodsfor making presentations in MS PowerPoint.

Expected learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Use the basic and advanced techniques in MS Windows environment.
Recognize an unformatted text and its structure.
Explain methods and basic procedures of text formatting.
Format a text.
Design own text.
Use the acquired skills to manipulate a text, achieve the final design, page layout and prepare it for printing.
Make a presentation using PowerPoint.

Business English 1
Advanced level

Course objectives
Introducing students to basic vocabulary structures and functions of business English language necessary for oral and written communication in English in a business environment. Developing language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) together with fluency and accuracy at B2 level. Enabling students with the skills necessary to follow other courses in which texts in English are used.

Expected learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Indentify detailed ideas of a written or spoken text on a business topic.
Express opinions and discuss a business related topic.
Recognize and use basic features of formal/informal register.
Write and email message, CV, cover letter, instructions.
Give an account of an event using simple and complex tenses.
Describe a product, its quality and compare it with similar products.
Give instructions, ask question, make requests, give advice.

Business Mathematics

Course objectives
Adopting mathematical concepts, methods and procedures necessary for develop skills for modelling and solving basic business problems.

Expected learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Use the basic mathematical functions as models for implementation of business analysis.
Apply derivatives rules on basic mathematical functions.
Demonstrate the use of the application of calculus in business and economics.
Use percentages, ratios, and proportions for business or personal finance applications.
Discern effects of various types and methods of interest calculation methods.
Apply the concept of the time value of money in practical problems, including loan payment calculation.

Croatian for foreigners

Course objectives
Acquire and develop the essentials of Croatian language and culture. Acquire basic writing, reading and speaking skills in the Croatian language. Acquire basic vocabulary.

Expected learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Understand simple texts in Croatian.
Write simple texts in Croatian.
Use the knowledge of spelling and grammar when writing simple texts.
Use a number of linguistic manuals and guides of the standard Croatian language.
Use Croatian in simple social situations.
Use communication strategies typical of Croatian culture.

Introduction to Business Psychology and Communication

Course objectives
Enable students to acquire basic knowledge in the field of psychology necessary for understanding the business context and their own role in it. Provide training and practice communication skills, with an emphasis on presentation skills and assertive communication. Instruct and train students to independently use relevant literature in the field.

Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Describe psychology as a scientific discipline.
Interpret the results of psychological research.
Differentiate the basic psychological processes.
Identify the factors which influence perception and social perception.
Explain the dimensions of self-esteem and the development of self-esteem.
Explain the differences and functions of verbal and non-verbal communication.
Apply skills of successful presentation.
Describe the basic principles of assertive communication and communication in international context.

Microeconomics

Course objectives
Provide insight into the basic economic categories, as well as the current economic environment. Introduce students to specific knowledge necessary to the contemporary entrepreneur and manager in performing day-to-day business activities. Provide the basics for the study of related disciplines later in the study programme and apply the acquired knowledge to other expert fields and disciplines.

Having successfully completed the course, the students will be able to:
Name the most significant theorists of economic thought.
Explain the basic concepts of microeconomics.
Chart the most significant microeconomic categories.
Interpret the basic enterprise success indicators.
Calculate different break-even points in enterprises with different business activities.
